Outtakes or Why I love kids

You can never predict what a two year old is going to do. This is an outtake from a shoot done on Easter with the Sierra family.

Alexander has always been one of my favorite subjects. He's funny and sassy and unpredictable.

One of the things I love most about photographing young kids is that they have no real awareness of the camera. Their attention span is too short and it ensures a lot of natural looking pictures.

Of course, this isn't really what we were looking for in this shoot, but it still makes me smile. It's the quintessential personality of this little stinker. He's a hoot!

I'm also learning that while it's good to have a direction and expectations of a shoot, there is no guarantee that you're going to get it when photographing animals and children. :)

Even though that presents its own challenges, I find I'm much more able to handle the curveballs thrown at me by the little ones and the furry ones than someone who just doesn't want to be there or is having a bad day.

Luckily, that's not something that happens often, but we all have off days.
